Dodgers Plan To Have a Bullpen Game
Los Angeles will have another bullpen game as they try to put a wrap on the series.
While this is frequently viewed as a questionable strategy and an indictment of a team’s lack of depth, the Dodgers bullpen has been excellent overall. The idea of a bullpen game is to keep the game close and let the hitters build up a lead to get to the key relievers in the late innings.
L.A. has a limited history against Gil.

Desperate Yankees Try To Mount Comeback
Out of necessity, Gil will have a short leash from manager Aaron Boone. Will they be desperate enough to use Gerrit Cole in relief? Or will they be judicious and use Nestor Cortes (again)? If the game goes south early, New York will see where it’s going. If that’s the case, expect a blowout.
Regardless of which relievers the Dodgers use, the Yankees are hopeless unless Aaron Judge starts hitting. In the World Series, he’s batting .083 with one hit and one walk in 13 plate appearances.
The team dynamic is also an issue. Twenty years ago, could the Joe Torre Yankees have made an argument that they would mount such a comeback from three zip in the series? Yes.
Now, they have players like Alex Verdugo who’s pimping home runs down four runs in the ninth inning when they’re one out from losing. It’s a cultural problem that can’t be fixed immediately and will doom them if they fall behind early, which they will.
