Before Betting on White Sox vs Angels June 29

Have the Chicago White Sox cured their recent struggles? Tuesday’s 11-4 win was much needed for the South Siders as they lost the opener to the Los Angeles Angels 4-3, a series after dropping three of four at home to the last place Orioles.

The Angels are hoping that having Shohei Ohtani (6-4, 2.90) on the mound will help them get just their second series win in over a month. Ohtani sparkled in his last start, going 8.0 IP while allowing just 2 hits while striking out a career high 13 in a 5-0 win over the Royals. That’s two straight starts not allowing a run for Ohtani, who has given up one run in his last 21 IP while striking out 25.

The White Sox offense was finally dialed in on Tuesday after scoring just 3 total runs in the three losses to Baltimore over the weekend. 7 Chicago batters had multi-hit games, including Tim Anderson, Luis Robert, and Jose Abreu who had 3 hits apiece. Robert and Josh Harrison also hit HRs as part of a 17-hit night.

Michael Kopech (2-4, 2.59 ERA) probably won’t get the same type of run support that Chicago put up Tuesday as the team faces Ohtani. Kopech is on a two start losing streak, allowing 7 ER in falling to the Astros and Orioles. Mike Trout walked and Brandon Marsh homered in their only respective career ABs vs. Kopech.

Hard not to like the Angels here, even on the run line. Kopech has had a couple mediocre starts in a row while Ohtani has been zoned in over his last three. Chicago used up their offense on Tuesday night, which usually leaves a team prey to the dud the next game.
