Western Conference Semifinals: Golden State Warriors vs. New Orleans Pelicans

Western Conference Semifinals: Golden State Warriors vs. New Orleans Pelicans

The Golden State Warriors will host the New Orleans Pelicans in game 5 of their playoff series. This will be an elimination game, as the Warriors currently lead the series three games to one. In game 4, Golden State blew out the Pelicans, winning by a score of 118-92.

The talent of the Warriors appears to be too much for the Pelicans. New Orleans was able to surprise the Portland Trail Blazers in round 1, but have not had the same luck with the Warriors. Golden State is looking to advance to the Conference Finals for the 4th straight year. The Golden State Warriors are -12 over the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday.

Pelicans Hope To Keep Season Alive

New Orleans must make adjustments for game 5, after getting blown out by the Warriors in game 4. The Pelicans got just 14 bench points in game 4, and their lack of depth is hurting them in this series. If the Pelicans are going to keep their season alive, someone will have to step up and provide scoring from the second unit.

Anthony Davis continues to play well for the Pelicans, despite the outcome. With Davis leading the way, New Orleans looks to be a franchise on the rise, but lack the depth and experience to get the job done this season. Look for Davis to post another double double in game 5 in trying to keep his team in the game.

Durant Responds in Big Way

After a disappointing game 3, Kevin Durant bounced back in a big way in game 4. The former MVP poured in a game high 38 points, while also grabbing a team high 9 rebounds. With Durant leading the way, the Warriors are now just one win away from advancing to the Western Conference Finals.

The only major concern for the Warriors is the play of Klay Thompson. Thompson continues to struggle from the three point line and finished with just 13 points in the game 4 win. Stephen Curry has appeared to shake off his rust, and is back to making the most difficult shots, look easy. The Warriors need both of the “Splash Brothers” to make shots to lead them to a series win.

Pelicans Compete, Warriors Win

The Warriors appear to be peaking at the right time. Golden State finally has their entire roster healthy, and a date in the Western Conference Finals appears to be imminent. Durant led the way in game 4, but look for Stephen Curry to have a huge game 5. The Warriors know how to win an elimination game, and they will do just that in game 5.

The Pelicans were the surprise team in the first round, but just don’t have enough talent to beat the Warriors. With Anthony Davis leading the way, the Pelicans will make game 5 a close and competitive game. The Warriors will ultimately win the game, but the final margin will be single digitsBet the New Orleans Pelicans +12 over the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday.
