Janni Sinner faces the home-crowd favorite, Tommy Paul, in the US Open’s Round of 16. Sinner’s recent games have been excellent, but the Italian is shadowed by a doping scandal he participated in, and that puts away the attention from his fantastic tennis.

Before Betting on Jannik Sinner vs. Tommy Paul

Sinner won the ATP Masters in Cincinnati, and plays fantastic tennis here at Flushing. The off-court matters he had to go through apparently motivated the world No.1, who looks ruthless. Sinner lost the set in the opening game against McDonald, 3-1, but after that, he had two routine wins.

The first was against Michelsen, 3-0, and the most recent was against O’Connell, whom he also defeated in straight sets. His 15 aces and 82% of points won on first serve against O’Connell can give a clear picture of how he plays right now.

Tommy Paul’s performances in New York are, let’s say, OK. He was better than Lorenzo Sonego in the opening match, 3-1, then beat Purcell 2-0 due to a withdrawal before eliminating Diallo in the third round, 3-1.

But to be honest, the American always plays like this, both against the tough and the easier rivals, and he simply isn’t the guy who smashes his way through the tournament. His momentum and willpower often create problems for the rivals, and with the crowd behind him, we expect to see Tommy at the highest possible level against Jannik.

Jannik Sinner vs. Tommy Paul Head to Head

There were three matches between these guys, and Sinner leads the series 2- 1 right now. He won in Madrid 2022, 2-1, and Toronto last year, 2-0, while Paul posted a victory in Eastbourne in 2022, 2-1.
