Brandon Nakashima and Alexander Zverev open the second day of the US Open round of 16 phase. Nakashima had more time to rest, but that didn’t improve the bookies’ view of the American, who is a massive underdog in this contest.

Before Betting on Brandon Nakashima vs. Alexander Zverev

Nakashima has two losses in the past ten events, both of which came against the same rival: Andrey Rublev. In the meantime, he got quite a few big scalps – Fritz, Shapovalov, Paul, Rune, etc. Here in New York, he was better than Rune, Cazaux, and Lorenzo Musetti, who is the only one who managed to take him one set.

The American fired 17 aces and had only one double fault, meaning his serve is at a darn good level. Also, 10 saved break points out of 13 suggest his serve games are very nast for the rivals.

Zverev opened the match against Etcheverry very slowly, allowing the Argentinian to take the first set. The second was very fierce, but once the German finally broke his rival’s serve, the situation changed in his favor. Etcheverry couldn’t withstand the pressure, losing all the key points and eventually the game.

There are no enigmas regarding Zverev here. If he intends to win the US Open, his head has to be in the right place, meaning no outbursts nor some hot-headed actions. However, knowing that the pressure will be high on him, we’ll see if he manages to stay composed.

Brandon Nakashima vs. Alexander Zverev Head to Head

Zverev leads 2-0 in head to head encounters, defeating Nakashima at the 2020 US Open, 3-1, and the 2022 Roland Garros, 3-0. That would be on two completely different types of surfaces.
