Marvin Vettori and Kevin Holland will headline the UFC on ABC 2. These two middleweights promise good fun and aim to win this bout, for their respective reasons. The Italian Dream is on the surge and expects to receive a chance to challenge Israel Adesanya if he manages to win this one. On the other hand, Holland wants to redeem for the recent loss against Derek Brunson, which saw him losing an opportunity to fight the above-mentioned Adesanya. Expect to see a fight that will be a test of endurance for both guys.

Vettori Going Up

Marvin Vettori (16-4-1, -300) is one of the most enigmatic fighters in the division. Nobody can tell precisely what is his true potential. Some suggest that he has the quality to become a champion one day, others that he isn’t anything more than an average middleweight fighter.

He suffered two losses since joining the UFC, the first one against Antonio Carlos Junior and the second vs. Adesanya. Both were via decision, with the note that the one against the current champion was a split decision. Those who watched that match can’t fully agree with the judges’ pick because Vettori overpowered Izzy during most of the fight.

After that failure, the Italian defeated Cesar Ferreira, Andrew Sanchez, Karl Roberson, and Jack Hermansson, putting the spotlight on himself following the most recent success against Hermansson. He looked mature, sharp, and very, very focused, implementing the entire gameplan his corner prepared. He is an all-around fighter who isn’t super-talented in any area of the fight but without a particular weakness as well.

Holland Wants to Redeem

Kevin Holland (21-6, +240) recently lost to Derek Brunson pretty easily, we might add. Holland came into that bout as a massive favorite and arguably the fastest rising star in the middleweight company, chasing a record with wins inside 12 months.

Instead of seeing him writing history and earning a ticket to challenge Adesanya, the TrailBlazer experienced one-sided domination from the veteran, who threw him around the octagon with wrestling securing a unanimous decision victory.

Holland is a skillful fighter who is very fast and has excellent combos, but is light and needs to add a few pounds to challenge the division’s elite fighters. That was obvious against Brunson. He has an enormous knowledge, but his frame is a bit lighter, and he needs to upgrade it.

Vettori vs Holland Prediction and Pick

Saturday’s match will be a huge test for these two guys. For Vettori, to check his ability to fast adapting and adjusting to new circumstances, and for Holland to test the same and see whether he learned something from the defeat against Brunson.

Overall, we believe in Vettori’s win, and here is why. He looks much tougher than Holland, who has good technique but is, as said, very light. The Italian is solid on the ground, and he will for sure try to take down his rival a few times to wear him out. In our opinion, his stand-up is better than Holland’s only because he can eat more punches and continues going forward.

All in all, our prediction here is Vettori, via decision.
