Texas Tech (10-5) and Iowa State (12-2) have some things in common, such as each being in some very close games lately. The Cyclones have had much better results in those contests though, beating Oklahoma 63-60 and TCU 69-67 last week both on the road. TTU on the other hand lost by three to Kansas and five in OT against the Sooners and both of those games were at home.
Tech and Iowa State are also knotted 20-20 in their all-time series, so Tuesday night’s game is a tie-breaker. ISU won 51-47 on their home court last year, but dropped a 72-60 decision in Lubbock and were absolutely rolled in the Big 12 Tournament 72-41.
Before Betting on Texas Tech vs Iowa State
Iowa State is up to #14 in the rankings and has started off 3-0 in conference play, which isn’t bad for a team projected to finish near the bottom of the Big 12 this season. The Cyclones weren’t bad last year at all – making it to the Sweet 16 – they just lost a lot of production in Izaiah Brockington and Tyrese Hunter who combined for over 28 ppg.
The Cyclones haven’t found a replacement for the scoring they lost, but they have clamped down their defense ranking 8th in the country allowing just 58.2 ppg. Texas Tech is one of the best shooting teams in the nation so something will have to give on Tuesday night.
Texas Tech has dropped their first three conference games for the first time in 7 years, but they’ve also been hit by injuries in the front court with 6’11 Daniel Batcho questionable with a finger injury and in the back court with Pop Isaacs suffering a concussion. That’s over 23 ppg out of the lineup if neither can go in Ames.

Texas Tech vs Iowa State Prediction & Pick
Maybe Iowa State is some smoke and mirrors with their close wins last week and maybe Texas Tech isn’t as bad as they look with two narrow defeats. That being said, the Cyclones are 8-0 at home, the Red Raiders are playing just their second true road game of the season, and ISU fans want revenge after the humiliating defeat in the conference tournament last year – but six points is still too many.
