The Stanley Cup finals reaches its third game on Monday evening, and the pressure will be on the Tampa Bay Lightning to try and find a route back into the series. The reigning champions find themselves 2-0 down at this stage, and will need to pick up a victory to avoid the chances of the Avalanche completing a whitewash later in the week.

Before Betting On NHL Avalanche vs Lightning

The Colorado Avalanche come into this first game at the Amalie Arena of the Stanley Cup finals this season with a commanding advantage. They made no mistake in their home games, as they picked up back-to-back wins in Colorado. They were made to work for their overtime victory in game one, but it was a much more controlled performance in game two.

It was a near perfect display by the Avalanche over the weekend, as they hammered the Lightning 7-0 at Ball Arena. The Avalanche started strongly with three goals in the opening period, before two goals were then added in each the second and third periods to wrap up a memorable night against the two-time reigning champions.

Cale Makar and Valeri Nichushkin both ended with two goals each in game three, while Andre Burakovsky, Darren Helm and Josh Manson also managed to find the net. It was a night to forget for Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy, as he conceded seven goals, and made just 23 saves from the 30 shots that he faced. That saw him end game three with a low save percentage of .767. A reaction will be needed by the Lightning on Monday evening.

This looks set to be the most important game in the Stanley Cup finals to date. We like the chances of the Avalanche once again, as they look to take a 3-0 series lead. The moneyline pick of +100 at BetOnline and Sportsbetting.ag looks like the most interesting selection to us.
