Before Betting On Scottish Grand National

One of the most competitive races on the schedule this weekend will take place at Ayr Racecourse in Scotland, as the Scottish Grand National takes place just seven days after the Grand National at Aintree. This prestigious race has been staged since 1867, and there is a purse of £150,000 for connections to compete for.

Kitty’s Light was the most recent winner of the race, but all eyes will be on the Willie Mullins runners this weekend, as the Irish maestro chases a first UK Trainers’ title. Macdermott is one of the trainer’s leading chances this weekend after landing a dominant win over three miles on testing ground at Fairyhouse at the start of last month.

Spanish Harlem is the choice of stable jockey Paul Townend. The six-year-old is yet to win in three starts over fences, but he has been running with credit throughout the season. A lot of confidence will be taken from his third behind the talented Saint Felicien on his latest start.

Stay Away Fay could be one of the most interesting contenders this weekend, with the seven-year-old appearing to be crying out for this staying trip. He was last seen disappointing when being pulled up in the G1 Brown Advisory at the Cheltenham Festival. But, he was largely progressive before that effort.

A typically competitive edition of the Scottish Grand National is set for this weekend, with a number of runners in with a chance. Mr Incredible looks primed for a big run after being pulled-up midway through last week’s Grand National, while Whacker Clan is well handicapped for a big run over this staying trip for leading connections.
