Panthers Coaching Change Coming Soon?

Carolina Panthers (0-2) coach Matt Rhule’s seat is only going to hotter when the New Orleans Saints (1-1) visit town in week 3. Carolina lost 26-24 against QB Baker Mayfield’s old team the Browns in week one and looked downright bland last Sunday in a 19-16 loss to the Giants.

New Orleans has followed a similar path as Carolina except that they were able to escape with a 27-26 win over Atlanta in their season opener. The Saints looked like a far cry from the Sean PaytonDrew Brees offenses of the past decade in a 20-10 loss to Tampa Bay in week two.

Carolina did get Christian McCaffrey going a bit for 102 yards rushing last week, but 49 of those yards came on one play. Mayfield completed just 14/29 passes although the Panthers defense played alright in holding the Giants to just 265 total yards. Carolina should have the defensive edge in the Saints Panthers week 3 matchup as they rank 9th in the NFL giving up just 310 yards/game.

New Orleans outgained Tampa Bay 308-260 last week and it was a 3-3 game heading into the 4th quarter. Jameis Winston’s 3 INTs were brutal though, and that’s something the Saints QB will have to avoid on the road Sunday.

Saints Panthers Week 3 Prediction

There definitely seems to be some money pouring in on the Panthers as the Saints ML price has been dropping heading into Sunday morning. New Orleans really didn’t show a lot last week to even be a road favorite, and Winston can’t be trusted on the road. Carolina plus the points seems solid even for an 0-2 team.
