Real Madrid and Manchester City meet in Spain this Wednesday night, in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinals. The Citizens have a 4-3 edge from the opening event, but we are confident that they won’t defend. Meanwhile, Real is in a position that requires an offensive approach, and knowing Ancelotti, he will have some surprises up his sleeve. Fasten your seatbelts, because another fantastic spectacle is ahead of us, with two continental powerhouses taking one another.

All Eyes on Benzema

The Frech international is in the best form of his career. He was always one of the best strikers in the world, but right now, Benzema is in a league of his own. We are witnessing may be the most efficient striking campaign ever in terms of chance/goal ratio with the Frenchman scoring 14 hits in 10 UCL games. Overall he has scored 42 goals in 42 appearances across all the competitions this year.

Real’s last five games all saw at least four goals, and all but one were with both teams netting. Los Blancos play attractive and open football, with an accent on the offensive display. It is something that we haven’t seen from them this season.

Real has certain problems in the backline when playing at home, because they tend to overexpose themselves in that area. That’s why we saw Barca scoring four goals, and Chelsea three.

Guardiola Back at Bernabeu

Pep Guardiola is one of the most hated persons in Madrid. During his tenure, Barcelona would regularly smash Real, and even after that, the Catalan manager inflicted a few big defeats upon Los Blancos.Β

His City plays very well these days, posting four wins in the previous four contests, and netting 16 goals during that period. They are in full speed, with all the players reaching their top form at this particular part of the year, which hasn’t been the case in the past.

We need to underline the fantastic defensive effort of this crew. In the last 10 road games, Manchester City managed to keep its net intact on eight occasions. It is an achievement worthy of every respect.

Head to Head Games

The first game saw seven goals, with the hosts winning in the end, 4-3. City was up two goals twice during the game, but Real would cut the deficit each time.

Previously, these two sides met in the 2020 UCL round of 16 knockout stage. Man City was better in both games with the same result, 2-1, and in each, they would fall behind early but bounce back to win.

Real Madrid vs Manchester City Prediction

This will be an open contest, with lots of goals on both ends of the field. Simply, there will be no other way for both units but to play fast and aggressive because the circumstances impose such an approach. Our final pick is both teams to score and over 2.5 goals.
