The penultimate round of fixtures in the Premier League take place this weekend, as 16 of the 20 teams are in action over the weekend. Liverpool’s 37th game of the season isn’t played until Tuesday, as they compete in the FA Cup final on Saturday against Chelsea. But, which sides can pick up vital points this coming weekend on Premier League matchday 37?

Massive Weekend For Teams At Bottom

It will be a pivotal weekend in the battle to remain in the Premier League this season, as the side that will go into the final day in the dreaded 18th place will be determined. Leeds United look to be in the most danger of the drop this season, as their goal difference means that they will need to finish at least one point above Burnley.

The Whites play their final home game of the season on Sunday, as they come up against Brighton & Hove Albion. It could be a good game for Leeds, but their recent form has been extremely poor. They have a poor record against Brighton, as they have lost eight of the last ten, while they have also failed to score on eight occasions in the previous ten meetings. Brighton also has a decent away record against Leeds, as they have won five of the previous seven. The trends don’t look good for Leeds.

Burnley face a much tougher test on Sunday, as they come up against Tottenham Hotspur. The Clarets haven’t beaten Spurs in their previous nine visits to North London, but they did pick up a 1-0 win earlier in the season at Turf Moor. They will be looking for a first league double against Spurs since the 1974-75 season this weekend. However, it looks hard to oppose Spurs given that they are chasing a top-four finish.

City Can Stretch Advantage, Everton Looking For Big Win

The only other two games with something hanging on them this weekend will see Manchester City travel to West Ham, and Everton host Brentford. The Toffees have an excellent record against the Bees, as they have picked up wins in each of the last four meetings between the sides in all competitions. However, Brentford did win the meeting earlier in the season.

Everton also have a dismal record against promoted sides in recent years, as they have been beaten in six of their previous nine encounters. However, their home form has been solid recently, as they have beaten both Chelsea and Manchester United at Goodison Park. I’d expect that run to continue as they edge towards safety.

The destination of the Premier League title is firmly within the grasp of Manchester City. Victory on Sunday against West Ham could almost certainly wrap it up, as they could move six clear of Liverpool, before the Reds face off against Southampton on Tuesday.

The Hammers are winless in their last 12 league fixtures against City, but the visitors haven’t won on their previous two trips to the London Stadium. That shouldn’t be an issue this weekend, as we expect City to win by a decent margin.
