Arizona looks poised to make the NLCS a series heading into Phillies vs Diamondbacks game 4 after taking Thursday’s contest 2-1 on a Ketel Marte walkoff single in the 9th inning. It seemed like Philadelphia was going to march to a second straight World Series berth easily following 5-3 and 10-0 wins at Citizens Bank Park, but life is a little different on the road.

Before Betting on Phillies vs Diamondbacks Game 4

Arizona pitchers finally kept the hard hitting Philadelphia bats at bay on Thursday, holding them to just 3 hits including none by Kyle Schwarber, Nick Castellanos, or Bryce Harper who had all been very homer-happy this postseason. Make no mistake, the Diamondbacks have still only scored 5 total runs in three meetings this series, but that was a must-win in Game 3.

The bats should come alive for both sides in Game 4 because this is a less-than-stellar pitching matchup. The Arizona bullpen was great on Thursday night in allowing just 1 hit over 3.1 IP, but they’ll be tasked again on Friday as the D’Backs are going with an opener in Joe Mantiply and then relying on relievers the rest of the way out.

Philadelphia starts Cristopher Sanchez, who will be making his postseason debut. Sanchez was solid with a 3.44 ERA during the regular season but a) he hasn’t pitched since September 30th and b) the Phillies have lost five of the last six games he’s thrown in.

Phillies vs Diamondbacks Game 4 Prediction & Pick

The question marks behind the pitching for both teams on Friday makes the side essentially a coin flip. What should happen is the offenses do come alive depending on which chess moves each manager makes with his bullpen which makes the ‘over’ the best play here.
