The Orioles (32-17) and Yankees (30-21) play the rubber match of their three game series Thursday night in the Bronx. New York took the opener 6-5 but Baltimore was able to counter things with a 9-6 victory on Wednesday. The offshore sports have New York a slight favorite but the Orioles have value as they’ve gone 10-4 in their last 14 games.

Before Betting on Orioles vs Yankees

The Yankees were looking at a series win on Wednesday, heading into the 7th inning with a 5-1 lead before Baltimore exploded for 8 in the frame and finished with a 9-6 win. That was nice resiliency from the Orioles, who took a lead into the 9th in Tuesday’s series opener before an Aaron Judge HR tied things up and New York was able to get a game winning sacrifice fly in the 10th.

Baltimore would seem to have the pitching edge on Thursday with Kyle Gibson (5-3, 4.27 ERA) squaring off against Clarke Schmidt (2-4, 6.00 ERA). Gibson went 7.0 IP allowing just 1 ER in his last start picking up the win over Toronto and has allowed 2 ER or less in two of his last three.

Schmidt has a blown up 6.00 ERA due to a couple rough outings in April and recently getting rocked for 7 ER against Tampa Bay on May 14th. Schmidt has allowed 2 ER or less in three of his four other starts this month besides the shellacking against the Rays so maybe he has some underrated value here despite some lousy numbers.

Orioles vs Yankees Prediction & Pick

This looks like a true toss-up game but Schmidt has actually been better than Gibson over the past month. Plus, even though he hasn’t faced them in a couple years, Gibson is 1-6 with over a 6.00 ERA in 10 career appearances vs the Yankees making the Bronx his own personal house of horrors.
