Teams in the ACC are looking up at 8-1 Clemson which makes Tuesday’s meeting between North Carolina (14-6) and Syracuse (13-7) extremely important considering both teams are 6-3 in conference play. The Tar Heels are just 1-4 on the road this season, but the offshore sportsbooks still have them as a -4 favorite at the JWA Wireless Dome.

Before Betting on North Carolina vs Syracuse

UNC had an uncharacteristic 4-game losing streak earlier this season that dropped them all the way from #1 in the polls to out of the Top 25 altogether. Since that slump the Tar Heels have won 9 of 11 though, and they look for their fourth straight win on Tuesday in Syracuse.

The Tar Heels are coming off an 80-69 win at home against NC State on Saturday behind huge games from Armando Bacot (23 points, 18 rebounds) and R.J. Davis (26 points, 14-14 FTs). Bacot is playing himself into Player of the Year considerations as he has three straight 13+ rebound double-doubles, and it’s no shocker that North Carolina is 3-0 over that stretch.

Syracuse has gone 6-3 in ACC play and are 5-2 overall in their last 7. Syracuse has the #5 scoring offense in the conference with Joseph Girard III being especially hot as of late with 21+ points in 5 of his last 7. Will Girard III be enough against the Tar Heels depth that has three players averaging 16+ ppg?

North Carolina vs Syracuse Prediction & Pick

North Carolina is the more talented team in this matchup, but this seems like it’s going to be one of those conference battles that is going to be closer than people think. The Tar Heels have struggled on the road this season and the home team has gone 4-0 ATS in the last four head to head meetings.

Pick: Syracuse +4.5
