It was another busy night in the NHL on Monday as teams at both ends of the divisions were in action. The reigning Stanley Cup champions were in action as the St Louis Blues visited the Minnesota Wild. Meanwhile, there was a classic encounter between the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Ottawa Senators. The Vegas Golden Knights were also involved in a brilliant fixture against the Vancouver Canucks.

Blues On A Winning Streak

The St Louis Blues continued with their excellent recent record as they made it four wins in a row on Monday night against the Minnesota Wild. The Blues have left their dip in form behind them over recent weeks as they are looking every inch like a Stanley Cup-winning side at present. The Blues started quickly in Minnesota on Monday as they scored twice in the opening period, before adding one more goal in each of the next periods.

The Wild did pull one back in the second period, but they never looked like getting back into the game as the Blues were far too strong. Marcus Foligno scored that goal for the Wild, while the Blues goals were scored by Oskar Sundqvist, Ivan Barbashev, Jordan Kyrou and Brayden Schenn. The Blues can make it five wins in a row in their next game as they face the Chicago Blackhawks.

Golden Knights Involved In Classic

The Vegas Golden Knights were involved in one of the most entertaining games of the NHL season on Monday night as they managed to secure an overtime 6-5 win against the Anaheim Ducks. Both sides scored once in the opening period, before Vegas scored twice in the second. The Ducks caught up to the free-scoring Golden Knights by outscoring them 3-2 in the final period.

However, Vegas were the stronger side in overtime and scored the match-winning goal to make it six wins on the bounce. Over their last ten games, they have only lost on two occasions in regulation time. William Karlsson scored three in the win, while there were also goals for Alec Martinez, Patrick Brown and Shea Theodore for the Golden Knights. Adam Henrique and Nick Ritchie both scored two each of the Ducks.

Overtime Win For Blue Jackets

There was more overtime drama in Columbus, as the Blue Jackets scored in overtime to cap a 4-3 win against the Ottawa Senators. Both teams scored one goal in all three periods of action, before the Blue Jackets scored the match-clinching goal in the overtime period. The Senators have now lost three in a row in the NHL.

Nick Foligno scored twice for the Blues Jackets, while there were also goals for Emil Bemstrom and Stefan Matteau. Connor Brown scored twice for the Senators, while Colin White also got on the scoresheet. The Blue Jackets will be hoping to maintain their momentum when they travel to the Minnesota Wild in their next game. Meanwhile, the Senators will be looking to stop the skid as they come up against the Nashville Predators.
