  • The New Orleans Saints will play the first match at home without Drew Brees.
  • Meanwhile, the Jags and Trevor Lawrence are heading for their road trip this year.
  • Both sides lost the opening preseason matches.

The post-Brees era started with a loss for the Saints, who now have to decide on his replacement. Two names are in the combination, and Sean Payton has two more games to test them.

As for the Jags, head coach Urban Meyer knows who will be his starting QB, but he has a lot to do when it comes to creating his environment, and it’s no wonder why many believe that the Jags are again the weakest team in the AFC.

Saints Ahead of Tough Times

Drew Brees was the pivotal part of the Saints over the past decade and a half. He was not the best player of the franchise from New Orleans, but its heart and soul, which is why his retirement hurts even more.

The Saints’ fans felt even more hurt after seeing the potential replacements last weekend against the Ravens. Both Taysom hill and Jameis Winston were pale, way under the level they were supposed to be, so it was really no wonder why Baltimore’s defense picked both of them.

Payton declared Winston as the starter for this match. He will probably give each QB a game for proving, meaning that the former Tampa Bay passer won’t have a big margin for error this Monday night.

Lawrence Slowly Learning

The No.1 pick from this year’s draft had 71 yards against the Cleveland Browns last week, completing six of his nine passes, and suffering one sack. Interestingly, it was on his first snap. A nice welcome to the league, wouldn’t you say.

Lawrence will be in the middle of attention, and not just here, but everywhere he goes. Monday Night Football is very important, even in the preseason, so we might see how the rookie reacts under the spotlight when playing with the big dogs.

We expect to see a solid share of snaps going to Travis Ettiene, who needs to establish himself as a reliable option in the attack as soon as possible and help not only Lawrence but the entire team. Even though many don’t see Ettiene as an elite RB in the future, this guy has quite a solid potential, and he could be useful alongside Lawrence. After all, these two were teammates in Clemson.

Jaguars vs. Saints Head to Head

The Jags posted the last win over the Saints in 2003, and the most recent matchup was in 2019 when New Orleans posed a 13-6 win.

Jaguars vs. Saints Prediction

The over/under limit here is 39.5 points, and for us, this is a clear under. Both sides have problems in attack, the Saints because of their QB struggles, while on the other hand, the Jags are at the beginning of a rebuild. Therefore, under 39.5 points is our choice here.

Free pick: Under 39.5 points
