In College Basketball on Thursday – the first of four games in the Sweet 16 will feature the Nevada Wolf Pack and the Loyola Ramblers.. The Ramblers are the 11th seed in the South Region, while the Wolf Pack are the 7th seed. Loyola comes into the game with a 30-5 record, and they came away with a Missouri Valley Conference regular and tournament title. The Ramblers have beat Miami and Tennessee in the tournament.

For the Nevada Wolf Pack – they found a way to get by Texas in overtime in the first round, and then come from behind to top Cincinnati in the second round. The Wolf Pack are one win away from 30 on the season, and are winners of the Mountain West Conference regular season crown.  The Wolf Pack of Nevada are -2 over the Loyola Ramblers in this Sweet 16 Basketball game on Thursday.

Ramblers Are the New Cinderella

The 2006 George Mason Patriots are one of only three 11th seeded teams to ever make the Final Four. 11th seeded Loyola-Chicago has clawed itself within two games of becoming the fourth by channelling the 2006 George Mason team’s defensive prowess and only allowing 62 points per game.

They have found a way to win at the end of two closely contested games, and the buzzer-beater against Miami goes down in NCAA tournament lore.  Despite being forced to put both teams away late, Loyola-Chicago was not overmatched in either contest. In fact, Tennessee erased a ten-point deficit with four minutes to go before Clayton Custer’s shot sunk their season for good.

The high drama of Loyola-Chicago’s finishes make them the Cinderella team of the 2018 NCAA Tournament, but Florida Gulf Coast, this team is not. Loyola-Chicago is a real threat to make the Final Four and are only 2 point underdogs to a very good Nevada Wolf Pack team.

Wolf Pack Favorites

The 7th seed Wolf Pack is one of the higher scoring teams in college basketball with 83.1 points per game. They erupted for 14 points in 2 minutes to force overtime in a victory over New Mexico back in January and stormed back from a 22 point deficit in the second half of their second round matchup with 2nd seed Cincinnati.

Nevada also boasts the dynamic twin brother duo of Caleb and Cody Martin, who have delivered the most excitement by twin brothers since “the Taylor to Taylor over the head blind pass” in UAB’s epic upset over #1 Kentucky in 2004.

Nevada Wins and Covers

We are expecting a great basketball game in Atlanta. The winner will get the chance to play either Kentucky or Kansas State in the Elite 8 in Atlanta. While odds-makers seem to believe in Loyola-Chicago’s ability to keep things close, Nevada has the firepower to challenge a spread hovering between 2 and 1 ½  and a 143 over/under.
