The Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals will wrap up their three game series on Sunday night at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals will try to avoid being swept by their longtime divisional rivals after losing the first two games of the series. The Cubs have shown off their explosive offense in the first two games against the Cardinals.

Both the Cubs and Cardinals are trying to chase down the Milwaukee Brewers in the Central Division. The Cubs are now just a half game behind the Brewers, while the Cardinals find themselves in third place and 5 games off the pace. The Chicago Cubs are -119 over the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday.

Quintana Looks to Stay Hot for Cubs

Jose Quintana will start for the Cubs in the series finale on Sunday night. Quintana got off to a rough start in 2018, but has bounced back and pitched great for the Cubs in the last month. On the season, Quintana is 6-4 with a 4.09 ERA, but has given the Cubs quality starts of late. If Quintana can continue this trend, the Cubs will be looking for a sweep in St. Louis on Sunday night.

The Cubs offense has done a ton of damage this season, pounding out 19 runs so far in the first two games. The Chicago offense is a balanced attack and their lineup is filled with guys who can hit a home run at any time. On Saturday night, Addison Russell and Jason Heyward hit home runs to push the team past the Cardinals.

Cardinals Must Find Offense

The St. Louis Cardinals continue to struggle on the offensive side of the ball. The Cardinals rank 20th in the Major Leagues in runs scored, and it is one of the main reasons that they have fallen off the pace in the National League Central. St. Louis has struggled with injuries in 2018, and they don’t have the depth to replace their starters with productive players.

.The Cardinals bullpen continues to be a mystery as well. On Saturday night, young flamethrower, Jordan Hicks, gave up a two run homer to Jason Heyward of the Cubs.  The Cardinals have not been able to find a reliable closer, and it has cost them a few wins so far in 2018.

Cubs Sweep Rivals

The last time these two teams met, the St. Louis Cardinals sweptthe Chicago Cubs right out of Busch Stadium. The Cubs are hoping to return the favor on Sunday night. Chicago appears to be finally hitting their stride as they try to catch the Milwaukee Brewers in the Central Division. The Cubs need Jose Quintana to give them a solid outing on Sunday night.

The St. Louis Cardinals have struggled to score runs all season, and now their playoff chances are starting to fade. The Cardinals lack a big offensive star and their collection of young players have cooled off. Look for Jose Quintana and the Chicago Cubs to stay hot, and sweep their longtime rival on Sunday Night Baseball. Take the Chicago Cubs -119 over the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday..
