Alabama has climbed a couple spots to #2 in the AP Top 25, and the Crimson Tide (17-2) aren’t expected to get much resistance from Mississippi State (12-7) on Wednesday night. The offshore sportsbooks agree, making Alabama right around a dozen point favorite as they look for their 9th straight win. The Bulldogs have dropped 7 of their last 8, so is it possible the Crimson Tide look past this meeting?

Before Betting on Mississippi State vs Alabama

Alabama definitely looks like National Championship contenders, going 7-0 in the SEC so far and 9-0 at home. The Crimson Tide’s calling card is their offense, which ranks 9th in the country scoring 84.1 ppg led by Brandon Miller (19.8 ppg) and Mark Sears (14.6).

Maybe it’s not correct to say that Alabama’s calling card is their offense, instead it’s what they are known for. The underrated aspect of this Crimson Tide team is their defense, which gives up a fare amount of points (69.0) but mainly because they run the fastest pace in the country. Alabama ranks 5th in adjusted defense and are in the top 5 in opponent field goal percentage (36.9) and three point shooting (26.1).

It’s hard to see Mississippi State put up much of a fight on Wednesday night especially considering they lost 78-67 at home on December 28th as just a +2 point home underdog. Sears had 20 and Miller added 19 in that game while no Bulldogs player scored more than 11 points.

Mississippi State vs Alabama Prediction & Pick

This one could get ugly for the Bulldogs as Alabama looks poised to get a dominating win in much of the same fashion SEC football teams used to do to try and improve their spot in the rankings. The Crimson Tide currently rank #2, but they have eyes on #1.
