Second round action takes place at Wimbledon on Thursday, as American star Taylor Fritz will be looking to secure his spot in the third round. The ninth seed will come up against Swedish player Mikael Ymer, with the stars meeting on Court 18.

Before Betting On Mikael Ymer vs Taylor Fritz

Taylor Fritz will be back on court on Thursday, just days after surviving a scare against German unseeded player Yannick Hanfmann. The American needed to be at his very best throughout that opening round clash, as he found himself within a set of being eliminated. The German led 2-1 going into the fourth set, but Fritz was able to respond by winning the crucial set 7-5. He then cruised to victory in the deciding set, winning 6-3.

Fritz scored a tremendous 15 aces in that win, but he will need to limit the number of mistakes that he is making on court to overcome another stiff test in the second round. The American won just 71% of the points on first serve, and 63% of the points on second serve. But, this should be a slightly easier challenge for the ninth seed on Thursday.

Mikael Ymer will be a player that Fritz will not underestimate at Wimbledon on Thursday, as the Swede has managed to make the main draw at all Grand Slam events since the Australian Open in 2020. This will be his third consecutive appearance in the second round at Wimbledon, where he holds a 50% win rate.

The Swedish player was very impressive in the opening round, as he easily dispatched Alex Molcan in straight sets. That was a stunning display against a player that is capable of giving the world’s best a tough match. Ymer scored five aces, and won a stunning 75% of the points on first serve. He also converted on four from 14 break point opportunities.
