Dallas earned the #1 seed in the West with a 52-21-9 record during the regular season. That instantly makes the Stars one of the favorites to claim the 2024 Stanley Cup, and they’ve already knocked off the defending champion Golden Knights in the first round with a 4-3 series win. Next up for the Stars is the 2022 Stanley Cup winning Avalanche, who looked good in dispersing Winnipeg in five games last round.

Before Betting on May 7 Avalanche vs Stars

Dallas had 113 points in the regular season, just one shy of the Rangers for most in the NHL. That being said the season series with the Avalanche did not go so well, with Colorado taking three of four including a sweep on the road at the American Airlines Center.

Colorado had the #1 offense in the NHL during the regular season scoring 3.7 goals/game. That skating prowess was on display vs. the Jets with the Avalanche finding the back of the net 28 times in the five games against Winnipeg and goaltender Connor Hellebuyck who is the overwhelming favorite to win the Vezina Trophy.

The Avalanche offense is dialed in, but Dallas goaltender Jake Oettinger is playing well in allowing 2 goals or less in 9 of his last 10 starts. The Stars had a top 10 defense during the regular season, but they’ll need their somewhat overlooked #3 ranked scoring offense to step up a notch in the semifinals.

May 7 Avalanche vs Stars Prediction & Pick

Dallas draws the favorite tag for the series opener and they were 26-11-4 on their own ice during the regular season. That being said, Colorado is a hard team to bet against right now just based on how well their offense played last round against a great goaltender in Hellebuyck.

Pick: Avalanche
