Marlon Vera vs. Deiveson Figueiredo is one of the most exciting UFC Abu Dhabi fights as Chito is looking to bounce back after losing to Sean O’Malley in the title fight earlier this year. Meanwhile, The God of War is undefeated since moving up to the bantamweight division and he wants to stay undefeated even after the August 3 fight.
Before Betting on Marlon Vera vs. Deiveson Figueiredo
UFC Abu Dhabi will see the return of some veterans who have been in the fighting business for more than a decade. For example, in the co-main event, we’ll see 41 years and one day old Nick Diaz will fight only his second MMA fight since 2015. You can read about his UFC Abu Dhabi fight in our Luque vs. Diaz preview.
Another veteran who’ll be stepping into the Octagon on August 3 is Marlon “Chito” Vera. Although he’s still relatively young (31), he’s been fighting professionally for a long time. In fact, Ecuador’s favorite son made his professional debut back in 2010.
He’s 23-9-1 overall with his last fight resulting in a decision loss to the UFC Bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley. Chito didn’t become the champ that day, but he gave war to Sugar.
Even though O’Malley is famous for being one of the greatest boxers in the UFC, he was unable to finish Chito in 25 minutes. He landed 230 significant strikes, but Vera did not back down.
His performance against Sugar should give him confidence that he can do well against Deiveson Figueiredo. The 36-year-old Brazilian is 23-3-1 overall, but most of his fights were in the flyweight division.
Since moving up to the bantamweight division, he’s 2-0, with wins over Rob Font and Cody Garbrandt. But neither of these guys is anywhere near Chito Vera in terms of fighting skills and physical abilities.
