United Looking For First Win In Two

The new season started with high excitement levels at Old Trafford, as many believed that the Red Devils had built a side that looked more than capable of laying down a title challenge. Confidence was high after a huge win against Leeds United at Old Trafford on the opening day. However, United, have been in disappointing form over recent weeks and that has led to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer being put under intense pressure. A defeat this weekend is unlikely to do his job prospects any favors, as United have already not won in two league fixtures, and three domestic outings, which included their defeat against West Ham United in the third round of the EFL Cup.

United’s first league defeat of the season was suffered a couple of weeks back, as they were beaten by Aston Villa at Old Trafford. They weren’t able to respond to that setback in their last league fixture, as United were held at the Theatre of Dreams by Everton. Anthony Martial scored his first goal of the new season to open the scoring, before Andros Townsend levelled the scores in the second period.

Leicester In Need Of Win

Leicester have started the last couple of Premier League seasons in excellent form, which has led to them mounting serious challenges for the Champions League places in the English top-flight. However, they have made an underwhelming start to the new season this term, as they have won just twice in their seven outings. Leicester have also failed to win their last four, having been beaten on two occasions during this run.

The Foxes come into this fixture against the Red Devils having drawn their last two games in the Premier League, which sees them sit down in 13th place overall. Both of their draws during this run have ended 2-2, which includes their most recent tie against Crystal Palace. Leicester threw away a 2-0 lead in that game, as Palace scored both of their goals in the final half an hour.

Recent Meetings

Leicester have a great recent record against United, as they have won the last two in all competitions. They are also unbeaten in three, having held United to a 2-2 draw in the league meeting at the King Power last season. However, that draw ended a four-match winning run for United, which stretched between 2017 and 2020.

Leicester City vs Manchester United Pick

This should be an entertaining game in the East Midlands. Leicester have certainly achieved good results against United in recent meetings, but it’s hard to ignore United’s very impressive away record in the league. Another draw may not be the result that either side wants, but it may be the result that they get.
