There is a busy week of third round replays in the FA Cup this week, with one of the standout ties coming on Wednesday. Leeds United spared their blushes in the first meeting with Cardiff City and they will be looking to avoid an embarrassing exit at the hands of the Championship strugglers this week.

Before Betting On Leeds United vs Cardiff

The FA Cup could bring a little relief for Leeds United this week, as the Whites have been struggling since the resumption of play in England. Leeds has failed to win in their previous five league fixtures, with that run stretching to six in all competitions. They have lost three of their previous five, with their latest loss in the league coming at the hands of Aston Villa last Friday.

The Premier League side needed to ride their luck in the first meeting between these sides at the start of January, as Leeds came back from 2-0 down to force a replay. Cardiff took a commanding first-half advantage in the tie, with Jaden Philogene and Sheyi Ojo scoring inside the opening half an hour.

However, credit where it’s due, Leeds fought back excellently in the final 25 minutes. A lifeline was handed out when Rodrigo pulled a goal back after 65 minutes, before Sonny Perkins set up this replay with a strike in the 93rdminute. It was the least that Leeds deserved, as they dominated the possession and registered 26 shots in a pulsating cup tie.

This cup fixture could be an unwanted distraction for Cardiff City, as their aim will be to remain in the Championship this term. The Bluebirds have failed to win in their previous five fixtures, which includes a run of four draws in five. They are just three clear of the drop zone in England’s second tier and have scored a league-low of just 21 goals.

Cardiff likely missed their ideal chance to reach the fourth round of the FA Cup when the sides met in the Welsh capital just a few weeks ago. Therefore, we could see Leeds making no mistake with this second opportunity, and we expect them to pick up a comfortable 2-0 win.
