Khabib Nurmagomedov declined the possibility of having a rematch against Connor McGregor anytime soon.

Ali Abdelaziz Shuts Down all Speculations

Khabib’s agent Ali Abdelaziz spoke yesterday about the potential rematch between Khabib and Connor. He was pretty straightforward in explaining that such an event is not possible.

“The only chance this fight could happen is in the street,” he said.

According to his words, McGregor insulted Khabib on multiple occasions, slamming his family, religion, race. Because of that, there is no respect for the Irishman in Nurmagomedov’s team, and they won’t discuss the possibility of giving him a chance to fight for the title again.

Also, they don’t want to talk about Conor at all, and they had some pretty harsh words for the ex-champ.

The Notorious is lobbying for the rematch for a long time, and he even went to Russia last year challenging Khabib at his own turf. After that, he was constantly calling out the Russian, who refused to accept the challenge, often by saying that the Irishman first has to win several fights before getting in the situation to challenge the champion.

McGregor’s appetites rose after he dismantled Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone at UFC 246. truth to be told, the American fighter is way his prime, and he wasn’t a big threat for the younger rival. Many accused Conor for picking Cerrone, knowing that he wouldn’t present a real challenge to him. According to their words, he deliberately decided to make a comeback against one of the fighters who are not at the top of the UFC’s echelon.

While trying to arrange a fight with Khabib, McGregor has parallel plans in case his nemesis loses the next bout. The Russian is facing Tony Ferguson at the UFC 249 in April, and McGregor is willing to meet the winner of that spectacle. But that won’t be easy.

Gaethje Wants Conor

Abdelaziz is trying to involve Justin Gaethje, another fighter whom he represents, into the whole story. We saw on multiple occasions before, that once Conor mentions a fight with Khabib, he gets a response from the other side that he needs to beat some serious guys before that. The first name on that list of potential opponents is almost always Gaethje. The Highlight himself called out the Irishman a few times, and he even wanted to meet him in his comeback.

Nurmagomedov’s manager had one more message for Conor and his team, and it concerned the money involved in their potential fight. Although it might bring hundreds of millions of dollars to both fighters, the organization, and other involved parties, that is something that doesn’t impress the Russian.

“Everything is not about money. Especially with Khabib.”

In the meantime, Nurmagomedov prepares for the fight with Ferguson, who is, according to the opinion of many experts, former fighters and the fans, one of the few people in this division able to stop the undefeated champion. For sure, there won’t be more talks about McGregor until he finishes the job against El Cucuy.
