Third round action at Wimbledon takes place on Friday, as American John Isner looks to eliminate tenth-seed Jannik Sinner on Court 2. The big-serving Isner will be looking for another big elimination after knocking out Andy Murray in a thrilling match earlier in the week.

Court 2 staged round three action in the men’s singles competition at Wimbledon this weekend. John Isner produced potentially one of his best ever career performances in the second round, as he managed to see off the challenge from Andy Murray. The American was sensational on serve in that win, as he didn’t drop a single game against the previous Wimbledon winner, and smashed down 36 aces.

He won 84% of the points on his first serve, and capitalized on two of the three break point opportunities that came his way. Isner’s previous best performance at Wimbledon came back in 2018, as he reached the semi-finals of the Grand Slam. However, this is the furthest that he has gone since that showing. Few would argue against him reaching the semi-finals once again if he retains the quality that he played at against Murray on Centre Court earlier in the week.

Jannik Sinner offers a slightly different challenge for Isner today, as the Italian is currently playing the best tennis of his career. This year has already brought a career-best performance at Wimbledon, as he has reached the third round for the first time in his career. He has already seen off the big-serving Stan Warwrinka at Wimbledon this year, as he won 7-5, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 on Monday. In the second round, he once again needed four sets to beat Swedish player Mikael Ymer.

It should be another thrilling game at Wimbledon as Jannik Sinner and John Isner clash. However, Sinner’s win over big-serving Warwrinka earlier in the competition sets him up perfectly for this test. Once again, we could see it going four sets, but Sinner is the pick at -148 with SportsBetting.ag.
