As one of the hosts for the World Cup in 2026, there will be pressure on Mexico to bounce back to form following their disastrous exit in the group stage at the Copa America. A chance to rebuild their form will come this Saturday when they take on New Zealand at the Rose Bowl.

Before Betting On Mexico vs New Zealand

The latest round of international friendlies in North America take place this weekend, but there will be pressure on the CONCACAF’s most successful nation, as Mexico look to get back on track after being dumped out of the Copa America in the group stage over the summer. Javier Aguirre has made wholesale changes to the squad for the two matches over the next seven days, with experienced players such as Edson Alvarez, Hector Herrera, and Raul Jimenez all overlooked.

A response will be expected from Mexico, and there will be pressure on this new-look side after an underwhelming year of results on the field. The nation have picked up just three wins from their last eight matches, and they have suffered defeats in three of their last five.

New Zealand will be the underdogs for this international showdown on Saturday, as Darren Bazeley’s side look to get back on track after missing every edition of the World Cup since 2010. But, their results in the OFC Nations Cup do raise expectation levels, as they landed a second straight success in the competition earlier this year.

Their results this year have been impressive, winning each of their last four, and losing just once in their last six. However, they have often come up short when faced with higher ranked opposition. That was evident in March when they come up short against Egypt in an international friendly in Africa.

Mexico have won six of their last seven matches against New Zealand, which includes a 2-1 success in the Confederations Cup in 2017. We expect the North American nation to get their form back on track with a victory in the U.S. this weekend.
