Rockets vs Lakers Series So Far

This Western Conference semi-final has been one of the most competitive of the playoffs to this point, with both sides playing incredibly well throughout the series. However, the Lakers have been able to live up to their tag as favourites for the championship this year to edge their way through to a 2-1 lead. It didn’t start well for the Lakers though, as they lost the opening game between the two sides 112-97, which saw the Rockets take an early lead in the series.

James Harden was in incredible form in that opener as he scored 36 points and added five assists. Meanwhile, he was backed up by strong performances from Eric Gordon and Russell Westbrook, who scored 24 and 23 points respectively. The Rockets have been unable to build on that win though, as the Lakers have won the last two. The first of those victories came in a 117-109 success, with LeBron James and Anthony Davis scoring 28 and 34 points respectively. Both players also scored double-doubles in that games as they also scored over ten rebounds each. There were also double digit tallies in that game two for Rajon Rondo, Markieff Morris and Kyle Morris.

Game three was another tense affair with the two sides going back and forth throughout the first three quarters. However, the Lakers were able to runaway with the win in the final period as they scored ten more points than the Rockets. Harden and Westbrook both scored over 30 points in the defeat, while the Lakers were led by a 36-point haul from James. The victory for the Lakers means that James has now won 100 playoff games in his career. Davis was also in excellent form as he scored 26, while Rondo added 21. There is a sense that game four is vital in determining which side will be progressing.
