The biggest weekend of the year at Woodbine will see four Grade Ones staged on Saturday. The top-level action kicks off with the G1 Natalma Stakes in Canada, with the winner securing their starting spot in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.

Before Betting On Natalma Stakes

An excellent card of action is set for Woodbine this Saturday, with the first of four Grade Ones on the card coming in the form of the G1 Natalma Stakes. This race is open to fillies aged two, with the field completing a total distance of a mile. The field will be competing for their share of the $500,000 purse.

Mark Casse has won the Natalma on seven previous occasions, and he throws eight contenders into the race this weekend as the trainer chases a first success since 2016. Will Reign looks to be his leading chance at the prices available, with Kazushi Kimura booked to take the ride. However, the two-year-old is yet to win in two attempts on track, and will need massive improvement following her fourth in the Catch A Glimpse Stakes at Woodbine last month.

Ready For Candy is also winless during her career so far, but the Michael De Paulo-trained runner has shown plenty of positive signs on her three previous starts. She has clocked a career-high Equibase speed figure of 85, and was last seen finishing a decent second in the Catch A Glimpse Stakes at the end of August.

However, Charlie Appleby looks to have the leading contender in this field, with William Buick making the journey to take the ride on Mountain Breeze. The two-year-old is yet to win in stakes company, but she has some very eye-catching form lines after finishing second in both the G2 Duchess of Cambridge Stakes and the G2 Sweet Solera Stakes. That form makes her the one to beat on Saturday.

Mountain Breeze is very short in the betting, and she should be hard to beat if replicating her efforts in Group Two company this season. But, at the prices, it could be worth taking a chance on Latin Fever.

The Mark Casse runner was a winner on her only previous career start, scoring victory at Leopardstown over seven furlongs. She went through the line strong on that occasion, and there could be more to come on her first start in North America.
