The Grade One action at Woodbine this weekend comes thick and fast, with fillies and mares in action to compete in the G1 E.P. Taylor Stakes in the seventh race on the card. This race is run over 1 ¼ miles, with the victor securing their berth in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf.

Before Betting On E.P. Taylor Stakes

The seventh race on the card at Woodbine this weekend is the G1 E.P. Taylor Stakes, which will be run over a distance of 1 ¼ miles. Fillies and mares aged three and older will compete at the Canadian track, with the winner typically going on to compete in the Filly & Mare Turf at the Breeders’ Cup.

Mark Casse landed victory in the contest last year with Fev Rover, and the returning champion will hold interesting claims once again in 2024. The six-year-old mare has come up short on her two attempts this season, which includes a second in the G2 Nassau Stakes at Woodbine. However, she often performs at this track, and her previous experience could be a key trend to consider.

Moira finished third in the race last year for Kevin Attard, before taking place money in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf. She has looked very consistent this season, claiming success in the G2 Beverly D. Stakes at Colonial Downs on her previous appearance. She certainly boasts the ratings to get involved on Saturday.

Blush and Cinderella’s Dream are the two three-year-old runners in the field, with the latter likely to be a short-price favorite for the Charlie Appleby team. She has won four from five starts this season, which includes victories in the G1 Belmont Oaks and G2 Saratoga Oaks since taking seventh in the G1 1,000 Guineas. Sets a very high standard on American form lines.

At the prices, I’m happy to take a chance on Blue Rose Cen bouncing back to her very best form on Saturday. The French-trained runner has been disappointing this season, but she travels to Canada after a strong finishing effort when less than a length behind the winner in the G1 Prix Jean Romanet.

On the strength of her form last season, she appears to be one to keep on side after winning two Group Ones, including the G1 Prix de l’Opera over a mile and two.
