One of the biggest races of the season for three-year-olds takes place at Monmouth Park on Saturday, as the Haskell Stakes is run. This race is run over 1 1/8 miles, and a purse of $1 million is available. In truth, the line-up for this looks more talented than that of the Belmont Stakes and Preakness Stakes, and it should be a thrilling encounter.

Before Betting On Horse Racing Haskell Stakes

This weekend’s race offers a spot in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Classic at the end of the year, and any of these runners could easily stake a big claim in winning the feature at Keeneland. Bob Baffert’s nine wins in the Haskell since 2000 makes Taiba a leading chance.

The three-year-old was one of the stars in the division heading into the Kentucky Derby after posting one of the highest speed figures we have seen this season with victory in the G1 Santa Anita Derby. However, his run in the Kentucky Derby was extremely disappointing, and there were no excuses.

White Abarrio and Cyberknife have both returned since running in the Kentucky Derby. Cyberknife won the G3 Matt Winn, while White Abarrio finished second in the G3 Ohio Derby. However, the standout star this weekend is Jack Christopher for Chad Brown.

The three-year-old is arguably the best horse in this division, and has furthered his reputation this year with two stunning victories. The latter of those came in the G1 Woody Stephens, as he beat Pappacap over seven furlongs by ten lengths. He could be very special as he stretches out for the first time this weekend.

A high quality renewal of the Haskell Stakes is set for Saturday. However, I have little doubt that I will be siding with Jack Christopher. He is current available at both BetUS and at +150, but he is likely to be much shorter on race day.
