A lot of eyes will be on the exhibition bout between Floyd Mayweather and John Gotti this weekend, as the two collide just over a year since their previous bout descended into chaos. No judges were assigned for their clash in June 2023, but much of the narrative from the fight was set before the first bell, as Gotti’s corner had to be cleared out due to an overcrowding issues.
The delay didn’t faze Mayweather, as he comfortably dictated the pace of the fight, and toyed with his rival for the full duration of the fight. However, chaos broke out after the fight was ended by the referee after the sixth round, as the animosity boiled over. A hostile crowd in favor of Gotti appeared to get to Mayweather and his team, and both fighters were warned throughout the bout for their trash talking and the abusive language that was being used.
Gotti started a mass brawl following the sixth round after charging at Mayweather, with camps from both teams throwing punches. Further brawls took place inside and outside of the ring after the bout, leading the pleas from the Mayweather camp for fans to leave the arena immediately.
