The Champions League continues this week, with four extremely interesting ties. Action in Germany on Tuesday will see the in-form Serie A leaders Napoli travel to Frankfurt for their first leg in the round of 16. Napoli will be heavily expected to progress, but could the Europa League holders produce a shock result?

Before Betting on Eintracht Frankfurt vs Napoli

A third meeting between Eintracht Frankfurt and Napoli will take place in the round of 16 of the Champions League. Frankfurt has a good overall record against the Italian giants, as they boast a 100% winning record. However, both previous victories were recorded back in the 1994-95 season.

But, their record in recent seasons against Italian opposition also commands respect. Frankfurt has lost just twice in their previous eleven matches against team from Italy, winning six matches over that previous. The German side is also unbeaten in each of their previous four clashes with Italian opposition, winning on three occasions.

However, Napoli has also enjoyed an excellent run of form against German opposition, as they have won on their previous two visits to the country. The latest of their trips to Germany came in February 2018, as they defeated RB Leipzig 2-0. Before that run of two wins, Napoli were winless in their previous ten trips to Germany.

Napoli’s form throughout this season has been electric, as they sit way clear at the top of the Serie A standings. They have already impressed in the Champions League this term, recording wins against Ajax, and a massive success in Italy over Liverpool on matchday one.

This will be a huge first leg for the hosts, as they will likely need to get something from the game to stand any chance of progressing through to the next round. We like their record against German opposition, and a chance will be taken on Eintracht Frankfurt (+1).
