The Premier League season finally gets underway on Friday, as Arsenal begin their campaign at Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace on Friday. Both sides will be looking to get off to the perfect start, but the pressure will be on the Gunners to continue their solid pre-season form at the start of the Premier League campaign.

Before Betting On Crystal Palace vs Arsenal

Crystal Palace begin their tenth consecutive season in the Premier League at home on Friday. Patrick Vieira takes charge of the Eagles for the second season running, and they will be aiming to improve on their 12th place finish in the league last term. Palace played a completely different style under the former Arsenal captain, as they looked to play out from the back rather than go route one.

The loss of Connor Gallagher is a notable difference coming into this season, with Sam Johnstone and Chris Richards have come in from West Bromwich Albion and Bayern Munich, respectively. Palace have won three of their previous four pre-season fixtures, scoring eleven in the process.

Mikel Arteta almost had a free-swing at the Emirates last summer, as there was no real pressure on the Gunners to finish in the Champions League places. However, his young side missed a glorious opportunity to get back into the top-four, as their place in Europe was in their own hands with two rounds of fixtures to go.

Ultimately defeat to Newcastle in their final away game gave the control to Tottenham Hotspur. The Gunners have spent big over the summer months, and they have been one of the biggest spenders across Europe. Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko have both been brought in from Manchester City, with Fabio Vieira is another big money purchase. The pressure will be on this season.

The pressure will be on the Gunners at the start of the season, but their chances are helped by the fact that they have lost just once in the previous eight meetings against Palace. We expect the Gunners to make a strong start, and could see Gabriel Jesus opening his account for Arsenal. Mikel Arteta’s side are best priced at +363 with Pinnacle.
