There will be a huge fixture in Group E to complete proceedings for Germany, as they must claim victory against Costa Rica to stand any chance of reaching the round of 16. Costa Rica could also qualify for the knockout round with victory in this final fixture.

Before Betting On Costa Rica vs Germany

Two sides that will both require a victory to reach the round of 16 at the World Cup will clash in the final game. Germany will have all the pressure on their shoulders, as they look to avoid leaving the competition at the group stage for the second consecutive tournament. It has been a miserable campaign to this points for the Germans, as they were beaten by Japan in their opening fixture.

However, they ensured that they remained in the hunt for a place in the next round in their previous fixture, as they struck a late equaliser to steal a point from the Spanish. Germany has a solid record against nations from the CONCACAF region, as they have won six of their previous eight. However, their only defeat did come against Mexico at the previous World Cup.

Costa Rica advancing from Group E would be one of the big shocks at the World Cup, as they were heavily beaten by the Spanish on matchday one. They also have an exceptionally poor record at the competition, as they have won just one of their previous eleven matches against European opposition at the World Cup. However, six of the Costa Rica squad that were part of that win over Italy in 2014 remain.

Costa Rica kept their dreams of qualification alive in their previous fixture, as they recorded a 1-0 win against Japan. However, on Thursday, they will be looking for back-to-back wins at the World Cup for just the second time in their history.

Costa Rica’s win against Japan has raised the stakes for this fixture, but their performances have been really poor. Germany may not have reached top gear just yet, but they should have far too much for this Costa Rican side on Thursday.
