Two of the sides vying for a place in the top half of the Premier League standings will clash on Saturday, as Chelsea and Aston Villa meet at Stamford Bridge. Both teams will be looking for a victory that will see them end the weekend sitting in tenth place in the standings.

Before Betting On Chelsea vs Aston Villa

These two sides are very evenly matched coming into this fixture, with both sides sitting level on 38 points after 27 rounds of fixtures. Chelsea would have been hoping for better this term, but the very best that they can hope to achieve is now a top-half finish. Poor performances throughout the campaign have seen Graham Potter come under pressure. But, a strong recent run has seen the pressure ease slightly.

Chelsea come into this game having won two of their three Premier League fixtures. That was a welcome return to form for the Blues, as they had failed to claim victory in their previous 15 matches combined. Over that run, the Blues had lost seven matches and been held to six draws. This is a fixture that they have often experienced success in, as Chelsea has won nine of the previous eleven Premier League meetings between the sides.

Aston Villa has a poor recent record against Chelsea, as they have lost six of their last seven against the Blues since a 3-1 win in December 2011. Villa has also won just one of their previous 17 Premier League fixtures at Stamford Bridge. But, they come into this in fine recent form, as they have gone four without defeat in the league.

They have managed to keep clean sheets in three of their previous four matches. Villa last went five without defeat in the Premier League in December 2020, with the final game in that sequence coming in the form of a 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

This should be an interesting match between two sides that are very evenly matched this term. However, we expect the Blues to maintain their solid recent run of form by claiming maximum points.
