Joyce Looking For Impressive Showing

Joe Joyce’s record has continued to impress, as the British fighter looks to close in on a mega fight against one of the big names in the division. It was heavily reported previously that a showdown against Oleksandr Usyk could be on the cards, and that could still be the long-term plan for Joyce. The 35-year-old remains perfect in his career, as he has won all 12 professional fights that he has had. Eleven of his wins have come by way of knockout. The trajectory of his career has heightened over the last 12 months, as he came out on top in a grudge match against Daniel Dubois.

The expectancy going into that fight would be for a Dubois win, but Joyce was stunning as he dispatched his fellow Brit in the tenth round of their 12 bout contest. A nasty shot to the eye meant that Dubois wasn’t able to continue, and saw Joyce pick up the British Commonwealth, WBC Silver, WBO International and European heavyweight championships. However, he will need to back that up with another impressive showing this weekend.

Takam Has Wealth Of Experience

Carlos Takam comes into this bout with the experience under his belt, and he will be aiming to make it as difficult as possible for Joyce in London. The 40-year-old has won 39 of his 45 professional fights, with only five defeats on his record. Takam certainly has the ability to trouble Joyce this weekend, as he previous competed for the WBA (Super), IBO and IBF world titles.

However, his challenge was eventually ended in the tenth round, as he was beaten by TKO by Anthony Joshua. A second defeat on the bounce soon followed, as he was floored by Derek Chisora in the eighth round of their contest. However, since that defeat in 2018, he has been on the comeback trail. Takam has won his last four fights, with a TKO victory over Senad Gashi, being followed up by unanimous decisions wins over Craig Lewis, Fabio Maldonado and Jerry Forrest.

Carlos Takam vs Joe Joyce Prediction

We will learn a lot more about Joe Joyce’s chances in the heavyweight division on Saturday evening. Joyce must make a statement in the middle of the ring and dispose of Takam in efficient fashion. We expect him to do just that, as he records a TKO/KO victory in London.
