Before Betting On Borussia Dortmund vs Real Madrid

An exciting Champions League final awaits Wembley Stadium at the start of June, as Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund collide. The latter will be playing in their third final, with their most recent appearance coming back in 2013, which was also the last time that Wembley hosted the showpiece event. Dortmund progressed to the final in midweek after a battling display in Paris. Mats Hummels scored the only goal in the second legs to give the Germans a 2-0 aggregate success over the French champions.

Dortmund have out-performed their odds throughout the campaign this term, with many expecting an early elimination after being drawn against PSG, Newcastle, and AC Milan in the group stage. However, Dortmund won three of their six matches to top the group, before eliminating PSV and Atletico Madrid in the round of 16 and quarterfinals, respectively.

Real Madrid’s love affair with the Champions League has continued this season, as they have failed to bow to pressure in any match. Their credentials were on the line in the quarterfinal against Man City, before they progressed against the defending champions following a penalty shootout.

Not for the first time in recent history, Los Blancos also needed a late comeback in their semi-final second leg against Bayern Munich after trailing 1-0. However, an unlikely hero emerged in the form of Joselu, who netted twice in three minutes at the end of the match. The success means that Real will be playing in their 18th European Cup final, which is seven more than any other team.

Both of these teams have been hard to bet against throughout the European season, with both coming back from the brink of elimination. However, Real Madrid are always incredibly hard to bet against in European finals, as they haven’t lost a showpiece match since 1981.
