The West Virginia Mountaineers are at home against the Kansas Jayhawks on Monday in a massive Big 12 affair. The Mountaineers are 15-2 on the season, and coming off a road loss at the Texas Tech Red Raiders. The loss pushed them to 4-1 in Big 12 play this season. West Virginia started last week ranked #2 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll

For the Kansas Jayhawks – they have won three straight games since theis home loss to the Red Raiders of Texas Tech. The Jayhawks started the week ranked 12th in the country. They are 14-3 on the season and also in the four way tie for first place in the Big 12. The Kansas Jayhawks come into the game as an underdog on the road. The West Virginia Mountaineers are -4 over the Kansas Jayhawks on Monday evening.

Huggins Has Mountaineers as Contenders

Bob Huggins and his West Virginia Mountaineers had won 15 straight games until they lost on the road at Texas Tech. The Mountaineers dropped their season opener to Texas A+M and then rattled those wins off. The Mountaineers beat Virginia and Oklahoma, two surging teams along the way.

The Mountaineers are getting incredible production out of their guard Javon Carter. He is scoring more than 16 points per game, as the team leader. Esa Ahmad has played just one game, and scored 18 points per game in that game. The Mountaineers are one of the top defensive teams in the nation, as they are allowing just 65 points per game.

Jayhawks Looking to Stay Unbeaten on the Road

Bill Self and his Kansas Jayhawks have been through plenty of battles this season. Kansas has beat Texas Tech, Iowa State and Kansas State in their last three games by a combined 10 points on the season. The Jayhawks three losses this season came to Arizona State, Washington and Texas Tech, all home games. 

Devone Graham is the senior leader for the Jayhawks. The guard is scoring more than 18 points per game. The Jayhawks got a lift for their bench as they were granted Silvio De Sousa off the bench. He played in just 4 minutes coming off the bench in the thrilling win at home over Kansas State.

This should be quite the basketball game. Bob Huggins and his Mountaineers are going to want to pressure the basketball and make the game into a hectic circus. The Mountaineers play great half court defense, and will force the Jayhawks to drive the ball to the basketball. The Jayhawks want to shoot the three.
