On Tuesday night – there is a huge Big 12 game taking place at the Phog Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence Kansas. The Kansas Jayhawks are hosting the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the home opener in the Big 12 for the Jayhawks. Kansas comes into the game with an 11-2 record on the season. The Jayhawks lost back to back games, but have won four straight games, including a road win at Texas.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders come into the game with a 12-1 record, and are unbeaten in Big 12 play. The Red Raiders lone loss was to Seton Hall. Since that loss, the Red Raiders have won six straight games. Texas Tech is coming off a conference win at home over the Baylor Bears.  The Kansas Jayhawks are -5.5 over Texas Tech at Phog Allen Fieldhouse on Tuesday.

Red Raiders Rolling

The Red Raiders are led by head coach Chris Beard, who appears to have the Red Raiders heading to the NCAA Tournament. The Red Raiders have been to the tournament 15 times in school history, and they have just 8 wins. Texas Tech has never been to the NCAA Final Four. Texas Tech is one of four teams in the Big 12 that have just one loss heading into the 2018 portion of their schedule.

The Red Raiders have a trio of players scoring double figures per game. Keenan Evans leads the team with 16.6 points per game. Zhaire Smith and Jarrett Culver are next on the team, and those two are combining for 21.1 points per game. The Red Raiders are scoring 81.3 points per game, and the defense has been the elite group, as they are second in the nation, allowing 58.2 per game.

Kansas Looking for 14th in a Row

Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks are back at the top of the Big 12 for now. The Jayhawks are seeking their 14th straight conference title. Kansas will have their hands full with an elite Big 12 conference in 2018. The Jayhawks two losses came in back to back games to the Huskies of Washington and then the Sun Devils of Arizona State. In those two games, Kansas allowed 85 points per game.

Defensively the Jayhawks are allowing 67.2 points per game. On the offensive side, Kansas is 13th in the country scoring just shy of 88 points per game. The Jayhawks are dishing out 19.6 assists per game. Lagerald Vick is the top scorer for the Jayhawks with more than 17 per game. Devonte Graham is also putting up just shy of 18 per game as well. Kansas has five guys scoring double digits per game.

Jayhawks Roll to Win

The Kansas Jayhawks are at home. Sure, the Jayhawks lost at Phog Allen Fieldhouse already this season, and they also lost a neutral court game. But, with the Big 12 season here, the Jayhawks are ready to pick it up a notch. Bill Self is going to have his team ready to go, and they are going to knock down shots. Kansas will wins this game over the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

The Red Raiders are going to be a team that is for real at the top of the Big 12 – but they are not quite ready to win this true road game.
