The Dan Wilson era – taking over for the fired Scott Servais – got off to a great start for Seattle on Friday with an extra inning 6-5 win over the Giants, but the Mariners reverted back to their previous issues in Saturday’s 4-3 loss. A series win would still be a bright spot for the M’s, who are still only 4.5 GB from the Astros in the AL West. San Francisco has abandoned their chances at an NL West crown, but they are 5GB of the final spot in the NL wild card – still doable but it’s time for SF to get to work.
Before Betting on August 25 Giants vs Mariners
Seattle (65-65) got a game winning single from rookie Leo Rivas to win Friday’s opener but managed just 4 hits in Saturday’s loss. Mike Yastrzemski had a nice day for San Francisco in game two, going 3-5 with a HR and a double.
Even though the weekend series is tied 1-1, the Giants haven’t gotten a ton out of their starting pitchers in either of the first two games. Hayden Birdsong lasted just 4.0 IP in Friday’s loss and San Francisco got Saturday’s win despite Blake Snell going just 3.0 IP with 74 pitches. The bullpen could be a bit taxed for SF, putting a bit more pressure on Robbie Ray (3-2, 4.88 ERA) who two starts ago couldn’t get out of the first inning in a loss to the Braves.
The Mariners try to give Wilson his first series win with the team behind starter Bryan Woo (5-2, 2.12 ERA) who has been pretty dialed in lately. The right-hander has three starts with 0ER allowed over his last five outings and has a microscopic 1.54 ERA in six home appearances in 2024.

August 25 Giants vs Mariners Prediction & Pick
There’s a good price on the Mariners for Sunday’s meeting. They want to get the series win for their new manager and get to face a tired San Francisco bullpen to do so. Throw in Woo being dominant in Seattle this year and this matchup only has one way to lean.Â
Pick: Mariners ML
