It’s not ideal to drop the first two games of a best-of-seven series at home, but Houston has shown their experience in bouncing back to tie things up 2-2 ahead of Astros vs Rangers game 5 of the American League Championship Series. The pressure has shifted from Houston trying to stay alive in Arlington, to the Rangers suddenly letting things slip away at home.

Before Betting on Astros vs Rangers Game 5

The Houston bats come alive on the three hour trip North to Globe Life Field. At the beginning of September the Astros plated 39 runs over a three game sweep of Texas, and they’ve now scored 18 runs in 8-5 and 10-3 victories in Games 3 and 4 respectively – this after scoring just 4 total in two losses at Minute Maid Park to open up the ALCS.

While Games 3 and 4 went ‘over’ the total, Game 5 looks like it could be a pitching duel. Veteran right-hander Justin Verlander gets the ball for the Astros, trying to build upon his 21-9, 2.60 ERA mark in his career vs. the Rangers.

Jordan Montgomery will try to get the Rangers back on track Friday afternoon. Montgomery has two shutout outings so far this postseason, but was also tapped for 4 ER over 4.0 IP against the Orioles. This will be the first home start of the playoffs for left-hander.

Astros vs Rangers Game 5 Prediction & Pick

There was a noticeable contingency of Astros fans in attendance at Globe Life Field the past two games, so home field isn’t as big of an advantage for the Rangers as it should be. Combine that with how well the Astros have played in Arlington this season and the experienced Verlander being on the bump and it’s Houston that has the value in this one.
