The Big Ten lost a #1 seed when Purdue was upset by Fairleigh-Dickinson on Friday night, but now Maryland has a chance to get some revenge for the conference when they play #1 overall seed Alabama in the round of 32. The Terps have their work cut out for them Saturday though, as the Crimson Tide have a noticeable crowd advantage with this game being held in Birmingham.

Before Betting on Maryland vs Alabama

The fact that Alabama was able to beat Texas A&M-Corpus Christi so handily on Thursday (96-75) is a true testament to their depth, because they didn’t receive a single point from Brandon Miller. Miller, one of the best players in the country (19.6 ppg), is battling through a groin injury and shot 0-5 from the floor,

Alabama coach Nate Oats will use Miller as needed vs. Maryland, ideally building a big lead and saving him for the Sweet 16. The Crimson Tide still got 19 points and 10 rebounds in 20 minutes from Nick Pringle in the opener while Mark Sears added 15 as Alabama won for the 8th time in the last nine games.

Does Maryland have any chance at the upset on Saturday night? The Terrapins had a nice 67-65 win over West Virginia in the opener as four starters scored in double figures. There are some concerns with the Maryland defense though as WVU’s Kedrian Johnson went for 27 points, and you don’t want defensive issues ahead of a meeting with Alabama’s #7 scoring offense in the country.

Maryland vs Alabama Prediction & Pick

Until they prove otherwise, Alabama looks like the most dominant team in this tournament. The Crimson Tide rolled through the SEC Tournament where their closest game was 11 points and this is a team ready to play a couple more weekends it looks like.
