Minnesota (8-4) will try to send two icons of its program out as winners when they face Syracuse (7-5) at the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium. RB Mohamed Ibrahim and QB Tanner Morgan will both play their last game with the school, a luxury the Orange do not have as RB Sean Tucker and LT Matthew Bergeron have decided to opt out of this game to prepare for the NFL draft.

Before Betting on the Pinstripe Bowl

Ibrahim needs 35 yards to set the single season rushing record at Minnesota, which would already add to his career record of 4,597 yards. Ibrahim tore his ACL in the first game of the year last season, so to bounce back with 1,594 yards and 19 TDs is that much more impressive.

Morgan was just cleared to suit up for the Golden Gophers for the final time. The 5-year starter holds the single season yards (3,253) and TDs (30) record set in 2019 and is second in school history for career numbers in those categories behind Adam Weber. Morgan suffered a concussion in week 10, but Minnesota has finished the year 3-1 since his injury.

Tucker was a second team All-American last year and is a back-to-back 1,000+ yard rusher, so losing him is big for Syracuse. Aside from QB Garrett Shrader, the next highest rusher on the team only has 180 yards so Tucker was the bellcow for this team. Shrader will have to be a one man army for this team, but Minnesota has a very good defense that ranked fifth in the country allowing just 279.5 yards per game.

Pinstripe Bowl Prediction & Pick

Minnesota has an elite running back, an experienced QB if Morgan plays extended time, and a solid defense – that being said this spread should not be 11 points. Shrader is about as gritty as they come for Syracuse, and the Orange defense is a bit underrated considering they ranked 29th in the nation in total yards allowed.
Pick: Syracuse +11
