The Mercury shot 60 percent from the field and 7-for-10 from 3-point range, resulting in a 49-45 lead at the break. But Las Vegas clamped down defensively, outscoring the home team 41-27 in the second half to earn a double-digit win and clinch a spot in the Commissioner's Cup Championship.
Kahleah Copper powered the offense with a team-high 26 points, along with four rebounds and three assists. Alyssa Thomas posted a double-double of 10 points and 11 assists, while Jovana Nogic led the bench unit with 12 points on 4-for-6 shooting from beyond the arc.
Seattle aims to recover from a narrow loss to the Fire
On the other side, the Storm find themselves amid a nine-game losing skid following a 3-4 start. Their latest setback includes a 94-89 loss to the Portland Fire on Wednesday night.
Seattle held a seven-point advantage through the first three quarters. Unfortunately, Portland responded with a 27-15 burst in the final frame, notching its eighth victory of the season.
Three starters reached double figures. Dominque Malonga scored a career-high 28 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Natisha Hiedeman added 19 points, six assists, and four rebounds. Awa Fam contributed 18 points and five rebounds for a Seattle team that shot 48 percent overall and 38 percent from beyond the arc.
Mercury vs Storm WNBA Pick
Despite its recent four-game slide, Phoenix enters this encounter as a 7.5-point favorite. Here's a look at what you need to know for both teams ahead of this contest.
- The Mercury are 2-10 (SU) in their previous 12 games.
- Phoenix is 2-7 ATS in its last nine outings.
- The Storm are 0-5 (SU) in their previous five contests.
- Seattle is 4-2 ATS in its last six matchups.
The Mercury hold a slight 3-2 edge in the previous five meetings of this series. Meanwhile, Seattle has struggled on the road, dropping nine of its last 10 away from home. Given the contrasting trajectories — Phoenix’s narrow series advantage and Seattle’s ongoing road difficulties — the advantage leans toward the Mercury in this Western Conference battle.
