We are no closer to finding out which team will be crowned Stanley Cup champions for 2026 after the Carolina Hurricanes leveled their series with the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 2.
Therefore, the series will travel to the T-Mobile Arena at 1-1 in the best-of-seven matchup. But, which team will seize control of the Stanley Cup Finals in Sin City this weekend?

Any concerns that the Golden Knights' sweep against the Colorado Avalanche was a fluke have been cast aside in the first two games of the Stanley Cup Finals. The Golden Knights have been excellent in the final third in both of the opening games, scoring three in the eventual overtime loss in Game 2 on Thursday.
Vegas looked to be heading toward a 2-0 series advantage after scoring once in each of the opening two periods without conceding. However, they were ultimately made to pay the price of defensive errors in the final period to allow the Canes back into the game.

After two periods on Thursday, the Carolina Hurricanes looked to be heading toward a limp second straight defeat against the Vegas Golden Knights. However, they burst into life in the final frame on Thursday to reignite their dreams of Stanley Cup success.
Carolina scored three times in the final frame to force overtime, before delivering the only moment of offensive quality to steal the win. Momentum will now be on their side, as they look to pull into a series advantage for the first time in the Stanley Cup Finals.

The overtime win in Game 2 could be potentially series-defining. Therefore, we expect the Canes to build on that win by recording a success in Game 3 to close to within striking distance of securing the Stanley Cup in 2026.
