New York came out of the gate fast, producing three wins in its first four games. However, they have cooled off considerably, losing three straight. This unexpected stretch includes an 81-74 loss to the Portland Fire on Monday.

The Liberty trailed by two points at intermission before using a 24-14 edge in the third to take an eight-point lead into the final frame. But Portland's devastating 32-17 surge over the final 10 minutes propelled the road team to victory.
Breanna Stewart shouldered most of the scoring load, finishing with 25 points and seven rebounds. She also went 15-for-17 from the charity stripe. Marine Johannes contributed 17 points, six assists, and two rebounds for a New York squad that shot 40 percent overall and 33 percent from long range.
Following a 91-83 win over the Chicago Sky on May 15, the Mercury has dropped each of their last three games. The team's latest setback was a narrow 82-80 loss to the Atlanta Dream on Sunday.
Phoenix raced out to a 12-point advantage after the first quarter and led by eight points through three quarters. Unfortunately, the final frame featured a stretch in which Atlanta outscored the Mercury 33-23 en route to a come-from-behind win.
Three of the five starters reached double figures. Alyssa Thomas tied for team-high scoring honors with 20 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists, and two steals. Kahleah Copper also put up 20 points on 6-of-16 shooting from the field.
The Mercury were held without a field goal over the final 2:30, and were outscored 24-14 down the stretch. With that in mind, Phoenix hopes to play a complete game against the Liberty.
New York enters this interconference tilt as a 5.5-point favorite. Here's a look at what you need to know for both teams ahead of Wednesday's matchup.
The Liberty are 2-3 in the previous five meetings in this series, and have dropped four of their last five at the Barclays Center. Meanwhile, Phoenix is 1-4 across its last five road outings. In a battle between a pair of teams with three-game losing streaks, look for New York to get back on track.
