Ruben Amorim’s ill-fated tenure as Man United manager was ended on Monday, with an irreparable relationship with board members being a key reason behind his departure.
Statistically, the Portuguese was the worst manager at Old Trafford in the modern era, winning just 31.9% of his games in charge. Some of the club’s lowest moments in recent history came under Amorim, which included a Europa League final defeat at the hands of Tottenham and a humbling second-round exit in the EFL Cup against Grimsby Town earlier this season.
However, the attention now turns to who could be next. You can find the latest Man United manager odds and our pick here.

Who Could Be The Next Man United Manager?
Amorim’s sacking on Monday came as somewhat of a shock, as the club have improved on the field in 2025-26, and they currently sit just three points off the Champions League spots. But, which managers could be in the frame to replace the Portuguese on a permanent basis?
Darren Fletcher (+200)
The announcement of Amorim’s sacking including the news that Darren Fletcher would be placed in interim control for matches against Burnley and Brighton.
Fletcher enjoyed a stellar playing career at Old Trafford, and was encouraged to complete his coaching badges by Sir Alex Ferguson.
The former star has been connected with the club since retiring, most recently taking control of the U18s. He has admirers as a potential future coach, but the job could come too soon in his career.
Oliver Glasner (+425)
Oliver Glasner has a lot of fans at Old Trafford, with many being impressed by the success that he has achieved at Crystal Palace.
Since arriving at Selhurst Park, the German guided the team clear of the relegation battle, and landed a first FA Cup honor at the end of last season. Glasner also previously achieved success with Eintracht Frankfurt, winning the Europa League.
However, he could be too similar to Amorim, with both coaches favoring the 3-4-3 formation. But, he is out of contract this summer, and will be a more affordable option.
Enzo Maresca (+550)
Enzo Maresca was only relieved of his duties at Chelsea seven days ago after clashing with the board. United have a similar hierarchy to the Blues, which could be considered a red flag.
Maresca has quickly become one of the most respected coaches in England, leading Chelsea to Europa Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup success in 2024-25. Was harshly removed at Chelsea, with the club on course for a Champions League battle.
Next Man United Manager Pick
A vast number of names have already been linked with the job, and a permanent appointment is likely to wait until the summer.
Roberto De Zerbi is widely regarded as one of the world’s best young coaches, and his admirers at Old Trafford have already been reported. Since leaving Brighton, he has done an excellent job at Marseille.
With Premier League experience and a reputation for improving young players, he could be a value play at the odds available.
