Aces survive Atlanta's late-game rally behind Chelsea Gray's heroics

Las Vegas was blown out in its season opener by 33 points. Since that embarrassing loss, though, this group has won each of its last four games. This includes a narrow 85-84 victory against the Atlanta Dream.

The Aces led by three after the third quarter and extended their advantage to 17 in the final frame before Atlanta scored 16 straight to trim the deficit to a point.

Jordin Canada's layup at the 36-second mark put the Dream up 84-83, their first lead of the second half. After a tie-up, Las Vegas won the jump ball, and Chelsea Gray knocked down the game-winning jumper with 3.6 seconds left in regulation.

Gray led four double-digit scorers with 21 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds. A'ja Wilson finished with 20 points and five rebounds, moving into 19th on the league's all-time scoring list.

Los Angeles knocked off the Mercury, thanks in part to Hamby's solid effort

On the other side, the Sparks had dropped three of their first four games. Fortunately, they bounced back with a 97-88 win against the Phoenix Mercury.

Los Angeles clung to a slim one-point lead after the first quarter. And a 35-19 burst in the second quarter gave the road team a 17-point advantage (60-43), a lead it would not relinquish.

Dearica Hamby delivered a dominant performance with 27 points and 15 rebounds. Kelsey Plum added 16 points and seven assists, including four 3-pointers.

In addition to an offense that featured six double-digit scorers, the 35-point explosion in the second quarter helped the Sparks set a franchise record for points at halftime (60).
